When the show started, John Belushi was 39 seconds late through the door. In fact, he came right out.. Lorne Michaels: Look, my name is Lorne Michaels, and I’m a producer on Saturday Night.

While Batiste’s score maintains the film’s beauty, it gets repetitive and stale after a while, and the gruff Podany as the preoccupied Billy Crystal (the dude doesn’t look like a comedian, which doesn’t help) is irritating
Filmmaker Jason Reitman’s frenetic and loose reimagining of NBC’s legendary late-night live television comedy in the hours leading up to its opening night, with executive producer/creator Lorne Michaels (LaBelle), a whirlwind of activity, anxiety and pride as the kinetic energy of the behind-the-scenes drama unfolds. Outstanding cinematography by Eric Steelberg and crisp editing by Nathan Orloff & Shane Reid drives the relentlessly frantic pace with last-minute adjustments that compliment the mostly game cast (standouts include Smith’s Chevy Chase, all egotistical and sleazy, O’Brien’s quirky and hilarious Dan Aykroyd, and dead ringer Wood as the late, great John Belushi). .
